Networking
Connection, without interruption.
Everything else in a connected home depends on the network: the cinema, the music, the lighting modules and the cameras. We plan it as infrastructure: wired first, wireless where it belongs, and tested before anyone relies on it.

Planning
A survey of the property, how each space is used and what will connect in it, now and later. From this comes a cabling plan, far easier to install during construction or renovation than afterwards.
Wired backbone
Structured cabling (Cat6A as standard) from a discreet, ventilated equipment cabinet to the rooms, television positions, access points, cameras and outdoor areas, with spare capacity for what comes next.
Access points and coverage
We usually build on Ubiquiti UniFi: gateway, switches and access points managed as one system. Ceiling access points are placed for the rooms people occupy, with weather-rated units for the terrace and garden, rather than wherever it is convenient to put them.
Firewall and separate networks
A gateway firewall sits at the edge of the network, which is segmented by function: separate networks for cameras, guests, staff devices, cinema and audio equipment, and smart devices. A guest’s phone is then not placed on the same network as your cameras, nor a smart device on the same network as your laptop. We set a firmware update routine at handover, and remote diagnostics are used only with the owner’s consent.
Redundant internet
We design for a second route out: a primary fibre connection with a secondary on 5G or from a second provider, and automatic failover between them, so the house can stay online if one connection fails.
Testing
Coverage and throughput are measured room by room at handover, and the configuration is documented so it can be supported.
